Streamy is looking for web application developers to join our team. This is an opportunity to get involved at the ground level of an emerging web startup and help shape the future of social news and interaction on the web.

About Streamy

We are an angel-funded startup based in Los Angeles. We develop innovative and high powered social news and life-streaming applications. Our development cycle is extremely fast-paced and dynamic; team members are responsible for multiple projects and to properly manage time between them. As a core member of our small development team you will have freedom to choose how to solve the problems you face with respect to the Streamy vision and direction. Our priority is always to provide a superior user experience.

We are a handful of designers and engineers. You will have an enormous amount of input, control, and responsibility. We use open-source software for all our applications, and prefer to build from the ground up to create the leanest, most robust platforms available.

Web Application Developer

JavaScript Hacking / User Interface Design

We are looking for a self-driven web application developer to contribute to an array of cutting edge user interfaces across multiple platforms. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of application and presentation logic for new and existing products.

We will expect you to quickly and confidently respond to changing requirements and to contribute to the design and development of the platform. Your input is vital and you will have significant influence on and responsibility for the direction of Streamy products and technologies.

Requirements

Strong portfolio of web applications and projects

Expert level understanding of JavaScript, prototypes, closures, DOM and XMLHttpRequest

Expert level knowledge of CSS and its nuances across multiple browsers

Complete knowledge of AJAX and Comet paradigms

BS, MS, or equivalent experience in Information Systems, CS or related field

Interest in social news, web 2.0, and life-streaming

Pro-active and results driven

Ability to move quickly and switch gears between different projects

Desire to work on a small team in a highly dynamic and creative startup environment

Bonus Points

Working knowledge of design principles, type, color and layout

Working knowledge of DataPortability and the technologies and issues involved

Experience with Python, SQL, and *nix operating systems
